Work Carried Out By CCI:-
Installed Accelerometers on main pump bearing housings to measure vibration levels ( velocity /acceleration), set safety levels and linked system to an inital warning light. The installation is supported by Godiva manufactures of the pump.
Benefits – Reduced Failure Rates.
The complete installation cost approx €2500. There are at least two instances of late where CCI were called in after sudden bearing failure cost thousands of euro because the whole housing was wrecked when the bearings over heated and seized on the drive shaft.
The other benefit of having a monitor installed is the comfort in knowing that while fire men are on the front line their equipment is sound and dependable adding and most importantly an extra safety feature to the exercise.
